yea.... i have some 4 gauge wire runnin from my battery gonna be distrod into two 8 gauges. One is going to go into my comp amp an ED nine.2 running only 200w. That should be fine. The second however is going into my sub amp a viper 1200.1, but im going to run my sub only in the 550-600w range. Will it be okay to run 8 gauge for the viper or will the wire catch on fire??

You wont be in the range of catching on fire, actually as long as after your distro you are not running multiple feet from there to amp you will be fine. If you have the option run dual 8 guage to the amp.
