Ok, how damaging is that little turn on popping sound? A friend is having the problem and he did the wiring himself. So I've determined he should reconsider a better grounding first, if that doesn't work do that time delay thing which just seems complicated (Open to any easy solutions on that :) ). But ultimately he doesn't want to put money in if not necessary, will the popping be hurting the system after so long or is it just annoying?

i had the problem with one of my older systems and never seemed to do any damage. check all the wiring to make sure its clean, and if it doesnt work and you are concerned about it, especially if you can hear or see it pushing the sub to or beyond its limits, definately put the time delay on the remotes. it shouldnt do damage depending on the tone and volume of the pop. the only other reason it might cause damage is if moisture freezes in the surround it could crack. if anybody thinks it could do serious damage please chime in.

I had an older model Orion 2150gx amp that did that for months. I finally got tired of the popping and installed a delay on the remote turn on wire. They are pretty cheap and will stop the popping. It shouldn't hurt anything though.
