i'm planning on running a 2x 12in setup in a ported enclosure.. heard them running in a friends car and i quite liked how it sounded.. and he was only giving them 200 W RMS each... my only delima now is should i go for the single or the DVC? i dont wanna spend too much money on an amp to power the DVC... but was thinking if i can get a reasonable 4 ch amp that gives out possibly 150W RMS per channel i could be running them close to their nominal...
any suggestions? if i have my facts wrong up there pls correct me... i'm just starting out..

A 4 channel amp that puts out 150 watts per channel would be an expensive amp, and not one you would need for your two subs. Your goal should be to select a sub/amp combination that provides at least half of the RMS of your combined subs at 2 ohms.
You can use a two channel amp and bridge the load (the combination of the two subs) at the rated 4 ohm bridged. That is equivalent to 2 ohms/channel.
Or, you can get a one channel amp (mono) and combine the subs to total a 2 ohm load.
It depends on the impedance of the subs' voice coils. If you had two SVC 4 ohm subs, they would combine ( https://www.sounddomain.com/shop/wooferwizard.pl ) to a 2 ohm load. Use a mono amp.
On the contrary, if you choose subs whose combined impedance equals 4 ohms, use a two channel amp and bridge the load. Amps will have ratings into those different loads, so look over what you have available and compare specs.
Your best bet is to find the amp you want to use first then buy your subs based on the amps potentional. If it is stable to 2 ohm mono then get SVC subs, if its stable to 1 ohm or 4 ohm bridged then get DVC

so if an amp has a rating of.. say 300W RMS x 1 at 2 ohm bridged (mono). if i hooked up 2x SVC 4 ohm subs in parallel onto that channel.. will both subs get the equiv. of the 300W or will it be 150W RMS to each sub?
The amp puts out 300 watts, period. The number of speakers that are connected will share the output. So in this case each would get 150.

I own 2 Pioneer TS-W306DVC 2 or 8 ohm in a dual 1.0 cubic foot sealed enclosure running them @ 2ohms with 2002 fosgate punch power 500 amp and the are clean and loud not hey I have a loud whack ass system but hard and clean I have the amp bridged and still think they could use more power. I have run every brand of sub under the sun with the exception of fosgate, orion and diamond but these pioneers hold up to the juice without distortion and have some durability I had the 305's and they hit hard so I really notice the differece between the 2 woofers. I got my pair for 135 shipped on ebay brand new with warranty. If you look on sound domain they also have em 69 I think a sub. Well worth the money I would seriously consider getting these guys. I am very meticulious about clean and hard sound system and these fit the bill in value and sound. The only drawback is they sound the best in a sealed wich requires a good amp to supply the power but a mono Lightning amp or even a boss or califronia amp would suffice for budget reasons with at least 500w rms bridged minimum will make some serious air move.
thanks for the reply. i have been looking for long time now at the 305s as they were cheap with good specs. I've heard my friend's setup which ran 2 of these and was quite impressed. I can't seem to find the 306s here yet.. Its quite slow down here in New Zealand.. i hope to get those if possible..
