Ok, I installed a Pioneer DEH-P7500MP head unit into my wife's 95 Accord and I can't get the power antenna to go up. Based on the Pioneer's installation instructions, it said to connect the deck's power amp wire (blue/white) to the car's power antenna wire (blue on harness and yellow/white on the car), which I did but the antenna still doesn't go up. Do I need to use a relay or something? What's the deal?

Confused,
Brent

first i would use a volt meter just to make sure the remote line is working....if it is then i would use a relay to hook up each seperately...

Ok. I have a volt meter, but I don't really know a whole lot about how to use it. What setting should I have the knob turned to, and what type of reading should I be looking for? Is it typical to have to use a relay for the power antenna when using an aftermarket head unit?

i think the blue/white wire on that deck only puts out twelve volts when the tuner is selected, try hooking the antenna wire to the solid blue, if that doesnt do anything, id check the power antenna itself, motor might be burnt out or it could be a fuse

I'm pretty sure the antenna is fine, cuz I worked perfectly with the stock radio. Just out of curiosity, what does the solid blue wire go to?

well the solid blue is a 12volt wire for like remote turn on for an amp and stays on when the radio is on, the striped usually is the same but its for power antennas and usually puts out 12v when the the tuner is selected and shuts off if you go to the cd player

To check if you Power antenna is working, simply take a piece of scrap wire, connect one end of it to the yellow wire(constand 12V+), and connect the other end of it to your cars power antenna wire.  The antenna should go up.  If it doesn't, its bad.  You should not need to use a relay for any reason.  Your aftermarket deck will output just as much power as your factory deck through its antenna output wire.  I have installed many pioneer decks into many honda accords with power antennas and they worked fine.  Even if you accidentally connect your decks amp output to the vehicles power antenna wire, it should still work fine.  The only difference is that the antenna would be on whenever the deck was on.  Pull back your trunk liner and be sure that the power antenna's harness is pluged in, and that the antenna wire is hooked up to it.  have someone turn the radio on, with your ear next to the antenna so you can here if it tries to come up at all, or if its doing nothing at all.
