im gettin 2 12inch rockbox 1000 watt subs 400/500rms dual 4 ohms.. the need to be in a 3 cu/ft box ported , but the boxes i was plannin on gettin or only around 1.5 or something. will that sound bad or even blow the subs if there in a small box.?????

im gettin one of 2 amps

one puts out 400 rmsx 2

the other puts out 125 rms x 2 ... so if i get the smaller amp what will it do to the subs , blow them or change them in anyway.?????whats the problem wit small box and small amp basicly?

the small box is probably sealed not ported and they will be less likely to blow in a sealed box, whether they will sound good depends on the speakers required air space.

list the amps model and brand. you need to know the impedence that they can handle (ohms)

do a search about under powering speakers, it is very interesting.

well the box is ported and when i was sayin how much power is goin to the subs , i mean it as i already checked . 125rms goin in to a 2 ohm load.

it is always best for the box to fit the specs of the subs

Remember if you have a dual coil sub and run it off one channel you need an amp that is 2 ohm stable.

Also it is better to have a big amp turned down than a small amp runnig hard, it is distortion that will kill your subs so if you have a small amp you will turn it up more so you are more likley to get distortion and kill the subs.

I have always found the right size box makes a big differance if the boxes are to small I find you have to drive the subs harder to get a good sound.
