I have asked around a little and haven't gotten a good answer yet. Using the factory deck, if I use the speaker level inputs on a 4-channel amp for my door speakers can I use the preamp output on that amp to go to my sub amp? I would be using the crossover on the amp to cut the lows out. I just didn't know if that would work or would I be better off using line-out convertors?

more than likly you have a line out converter using your speaker inputs converted to rca's anyway so you can use the out put on the amp

The answer to your question is, in general, yes. You can use the speaker outputs from your head unit to drive one amp and the RCA outputs to drive another. Some heads, however, require you to disable the speaker level outs before the line level outs become active. Check your owners manual.

I will be using my factory deck. No RCA outs. It's in an 02 Chevy Silverado without Bose or Onstar just has the auxilary tape deck. Both amps have speaker level inputs. The 4 way for the doors has a line out on it that's why I was considering this idea. What do you all recommend? Just going with a 4 way convertor and doing all RCA's, doing what I orginally mentioned by running high level into one and using low level outs to the other, or just running high levels into both amps. I will be running 2 subs off the other amp. I also will rewire the door speakers and not use the factory wiring for nothing other than a signal. I also heard even some non-Bose radios in these trucks were amped from the factory. I never heard of that and if so how can I tell. I was told to look behind the glovebox and I didn't see anything.

I suggest you use neither of the amp high level inputs. Use a separate LOC that has variable voltage adjustment ( called "high quality" ). The electronics in those are superior to that which is built in to an amp (built as and considered a freebie).

Use a 4-channel LOC, tap at the OEM speaker wires, and run the RCA's from the LOC to the 4 channel amp. Use that amp's full range line level output to feed the sub amp.

P-554A is one of many high quality LOC's you could use.
