I plan to make a ported competition box. Is there a way to find the Loudest SPL frequency when making a ported box.

I thought there was a way to take some of the specs of the speakers and then be able to figure the Frequency needed?

The cabin gain "thing" IS true.  Different cars with different setups will boost / cut different frequencies.  It would be impossible for me to tell you, "42.76hz" is teh elite.

Get an SPL meter at ratshack and some cd's with tracks at different frequencies.

Find the cabin gain number then make a bandpass box.  Comp only.  since anything outside that hz range will sound like ass.  Also its really hard to tell if the sub is distorting..

Try finding a sub with an Fs closest to your ideal tuned frequency. then the sub is most efficient and the enclosure is most efficnet, combined, at the sympathetic frequency of the cabin.
lower the cabin frequency by sound deadening it to help achieve that matched point. Then, you need to find the peak efficiency point for the amplifier based on load as well as the enclosure and sub combination in the cabin of said vehicle.
this will help to get the most power out of the amp where the load drops to it's lowest point in the response curve, which you want to be about where the cabin gain kicks in for transfer point.
