I've been asking a lot of questions over in the security forum about my Viper not getting along with my F-350 (I'm beginning to think installers don't like Ford's), I got a lot of great answer's so I thought I'd get your help on another matter. My neighbor's son refuses to believe that one Lanzar 50c could push eight 12"s with any authority. His experience with Lanzar is post Pyramid, so I don't blame him for not believing. Now even though the Isuzu that they were in has been gone for close to ten years now I still have the amp. I showed it to him, and he agreed it was big, but still won't believe. Unfortunately after this long I don't remember the actual watts that it was rated at @1/4 ohm. So If you know about this amp, have a story about it, or know the specs, chime in and help me show the kid that there was some good stuff "back in the day."

1/4 ohm stable and 400 x 2 @ 1/4 ohm. So, 800 x 1 @ 1/2 ohm

Take a look at May 99 issue of Auto Sound and Security and you'll see our Civic using 2 50C powering 8 15" DVC.  With a little help the amp could produce much more power.  I remember the way Lanzar used to demenstrate these amps, hooked up to huge power supply and fed a 60 Hz sign wave.  The speaker outputs were hooked up to a tables saw, and they cut 1" MDF with it.  Not only did they produce power, but they sounded good too.  Wish we could still get real stuff like that.  Sure power is cheaper now, what happened to quality?  Want to put Oriental power against some old US power.  D class may draw less power, but I like my bass to more like music than audiobaun.

Ahh!  the good ole' days. Even though most of the bass I hear being played loud and proud by the kids today sounds just like the bass that I heard from most cars 10-15 years ago when I was involved . . . the amps are clipping and the speakers are bottomed-out. I guess some things do stay the same.  Anyhoo! All this reminiscing is getting me all teary eyed. I appreciate the story. And it sucks to grow up.
