Has anyone heard the Eclipse 10” aluminum subs SW7304DVC or the SW7104DVC…and if so would you say that they are a suitable substitute for the SW8102DVC? I’ve been told that by a local Eclipse dealer that Eclipse has stopped making the SW8102DVC and the local dealers on Hawaii no longer stock them. He suggested the SW7304DVC or the SW7104DVC subs but no one in Hawaii stocks them yet.

Don't go to ebay unless you don't want a warranty. I think it would be worth waiting for the subs to be in stock instead of just buying them off of ebay.

The 7100 series are the Aluminum subs and the 9100 series are the Titanium subs. I'm pretty sure the 7300 series is really close to the 7100 series but it's continuous power rating is 50 watts less then the 7100's.

the 7100 series 10s are really nice.    we just metered ours.   2 10's a memphis hc 50 amp,    hit a 141.7 db.   the clarity is great as well, I am amazed by them, but would not purchase off ebay. if you ever have any trouble then eclipse and other retailers will laugh at you

There are a lot of online sites that are offering/advertising the 8100 series subs but they do not have them in stock.  Eclipse also states that they will not endorse/support any warrantee of their product purchased through an online site.  I purchase a lot of things online but the local retailer here has giving me a 1 year no questions asked replacement warrantee and is also willing to let me hear the 7100 or 7300 series subs installed prior to purchase.  Although it may cost a little more money up front it sounds like the hassle free way to go and gives me a little peace of mind knowing that I have a person in shouting distance if something happens to the subs.

The reason I made the original post is that none of the local dealers could give me a definitive answer on what subs are replacing the 8100 series subs.  There are rumors that actual replacements will be coming out in the fall and I don’t want to wait 6-9 months.

I’ve worked it out with the local eclipses dealer and we plan install 2 SW7304DVC in a 3cu ft box (box was made for the 8100 series sub).  I’ll be running the subs at 1ohm impedance and a Diamond D-5 1200.1 amp will power it.  It will be installed in a 2001 Civic.

Jeff… what type of box are you using and is it installed in you civic?

Ketel…I fly to various parts of the mainland about every other month and I’m always looking for better/quality stuff.  I’m always amazed on how limited and behind the times we are (here in Hawaii) in electronics and technology but it the price you pay for living in…..

Any ways Mahalo (Thanks) for help!
