i was thinking about getting 2 8in L7's. I was wondering if anybody has heard them or has them. I am planning on putting them in my center console downfiring. I would run a jbl bp600.1 amp to them. I like to listen to mostly rap and heavy rock and am looking for these to have alot of spl.

honestly I really didnt like them, didnt find much more output from then then a decent set of 6 1/2's I am sure if given a little more space they would do alright, but in a center console you might have trouble finding the room they wil require

will he be happy with 8 inch subs? Im thinking wrathchild wants a good amount of bass but can only fit 8"subs inside his center console. Should he scratch the idea of getting 8's and not build the center console box and take out the back seat and build a custom box to mold into the back of his truck? Give me some input.

I have the Solo Baric L7 10' in a slot port box designed by Kicker and it pounds. I am powering it with an orion 4002 amp bridged. I think they put out some awesome sound, clean bass, and they do not require hardly any airspace. I would give it the thumbs up!

Well, I have an Orion 4002 Class A stereo amplifier powering mine right now but if I were you, I would try one of Kickers class D mono amps. They are definately worth thier bang for the buck. As far as how you would wire the subs, it all depends on what type of amp that you get and what ohm it is considered stable at. If you parallel the voice coils and series the subs you will end up with a 2 ohm load which is pretty common for most amps. Let me know if you have any more wiring questions and I will be able to help.

Well if you wanna use one amp to power both drivers then you need something that has either a ton of power at 4 ohm mono or get an amp thats one ohm stable. What kinda power are you looking for? JBL makes some one ohm stable amps that are really nice and pretty affordable

ya what would u guys think about the jbl bp600.1? it makes 600watts at 2 ohms.Do you guys think i should go higher to like 800 watts?

So you plan on using 2 of them? Because you cant run both subs to one amp at 2 ohms unless its in 2 channel stereo which produces the same amount of power as 4 ohm mono, generally speaking of course. That amp is fine for one but to properly wire both subs up to that one amp you are only gonna get about 150 wrms per driver, which is severly underpowered, look to the 1200.1 for your needs. ------------- double-secret reverse-osmosis speaker-cone-induced high-level interference distortion, Its a killer

I disagree..UNLESS the L7's will be put in a small sealed box. They should do fine ported in a decent size box. ------------- Dave

both of them are gonna be in my center console downfiring, i have a dodge dakota ext. cab. so ya its gonna be sealed and sorta small. what amps do u guys recommend and can i run them to an amp at 2 ohms?

He had said before that they were going to be ina center console and if they were both in one center console then I just took for granted that they were gonna be in a small sealed enclosure. I am apperently in the minority, because I think the solo baric subs dont sound to bad, esspecially the eights, however they are power hungry which is why I suggested the 1200.1. Wire it to 4 ohms and get 300 wrms per driver, it should work out well.

Ravendarat...I also don't mind how the solobarics sound. I've heard better things about the 8's 10's and 12's than the 15's however..i have heard the 12's and 15's sealed and liked both setups. Ported..the solobarics turn into a strict SPL sub IMO...what is the power handling on the 8's by the way? ------------- Dave

Ravendarat..I agree..the solobarics do not sound too bad at all in sealed enclosures. Ported however..I think they turn into a strict spl sub. Rav..sorry if i misunderstood you..I got off track and forgot where he was planning on putting the subs..anways..whats the power handling on the 8's?

each sub is 450 watts rms and 900 peak. so u guys are saying i have to wire the subs at 4ohms and not 2. I hate to buy a 1200 watt amp and only use half the power as well as the price compared to another 600 watt amp. let me know if thats my only option, thanks.

As I stated earlier, you can wire into one ohm mono, two ohms stereo, or 4 ohms mono. Now in theroy 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm mono is gonna pull the same power outta your amp and its gonna be hard to find a decent amp that is one ohm mono and not heat up like a biotch. Where are you mounting this amp anyways. I did not see if you said so but is size gonna be a factor?

no size isnt really a factor with putting the amp somewhere.

My JBL 600.1 has never heated up before so Im pretty sure if you go with JBL you wont have any heat up problems.

does this make sence to anyone??? "if you parallel the voice coils" so that makes 2 ohm each sub... then he says "and series the subs" so 2 ohm and 2 ohm is 4 ohm... how will that give you 2 ohms? i think you have probably confused the guy. ------------- '91 4AGTE TOYOTA COROLLA

ya, aeordude has that wrong. If you wire the way he said you will get a 4 ohm load.
