Mine are shot, one is totally gone, and I was wondering what I should go with? I have 5 1/4's in the front (2) and 2 6x8
's in back. I was looking at the Sony Xplodes in Walmart, are they any good? They also carry some Pioneer ones as well. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Kevin

how much are you willing to spend and are you powering them with the deck or a seperate amp? i would stay away from the sony's, actually walmart alltogether.

I didnt want to spend alot, I had a walmart gift certificate so I was looking at those. I am running 2 10's off of a 245 watt 2/3/4 channel amp, figured I could run the speakers off of that as well maybe? I dont know, I dont have that much knowledge about these systems, thanks.

well, the sony ones are garbage like the rest of their stuff out. so if you are dead set on going to wally world for them, then get the pioneers.

Should I hook them up to the amp? I think the 5 1/4 had a 130 peak wattage.

Two subs actually, two Blue Thunder 10's, the amp I was wrong, it is a Kenwood 280 max watt, 4/3/2 channel. Here are the 5 1/4's and Here are the 6x8's that I was looking at.

um yeah, i hadnt actually looked at the speakers. i dont see how they can be rated at 280 watts max when the rms is like 50. anyways, you should actually just use the deck to power the doors and amp to power subs unless you are willing to get a another amp for the subs. i would suggest the latter.

you would probably be best off buying your equipment from ebay and get decent stuff for the same price. forget the rear speakers. use your gift certificate to get an edited cd from goddy world

search around ebay for a pair of boston accoustic coaxials that are used and an amp for your subs. look at kenwood, alpine, mtx, jbl. you will find all you need used, what exactly is your budget?

Personally, I also wouldn't buy any speakers without an amp to run them.  Any speaker that can take decent power (even 50 watts RMS at 4 ohm), will sound many times better on even a cheap amp.  You can probably get a used 4 channel amp that puts out 50 watts X 4 RMS into 4 ohms used on Ebay for less than $100.  And you won't have to turn up the head unit to max volume to make the speakers sound decent.  Also, the speakers won't blow from the head unit amp clipping.

What I have hooked up to the subs is a 4/3/2 channel 280max Kenwood, they are 2 MTX Blue Thunder 10's, I was planning on using that for the door speakers and getting a single channel amp for the subs, thats probily what I will do when I find a descent sub amp.

Sounds good.  Just make sure the wattage matches up and the amp has the right kind of crossover.

How would I go about wiring these speakers up to an amp? Do the speaker wires go to the amp and then to the speakers instead of just going straight to the speakers? Thanks.

You should use a Line Out Convertor to get rca outputs from the speaker outs of your factory deck (if thats what you have). Send the rca outputs of the LOC to the amp for the main speakers.

These Blaupunkt speakers are alot better then those Pioneers. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-k0inQe9ywIC/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=51800&I=023TSX542 If you have to buy from Wal-Mart I guess those Pioneers will be ok.

I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. Observe polarity and the load on the amplifier and you should have no issues. Do you have a specific question?

I was just confused on the wiring for the stock speakers, there are two wires that go to each speaker from the deck, instead of putting them to the deck do you just run them to the amp? Thanks.

Yes.  One speaker per channel.  Positive to positive.  Negative to negative.
