This is MTX's new sub they debuted at CES this last year. He thing is massive and they CLAIM it can be used as either a daily listener or a comp sub. They havent released the price yet but its suposed to be geared towards people with almost limitless cash so that says to me that its not something were gonna see at every comp. I do know it will reproduce acuratly to 5 hz which is pretty impressive to me. Thats what they were doing at CES, but the downside is thats all they were doing with it at CES so I kinda wanna hear the thing and see if they can back up their claim to it being something you can use in an every day driver. At 320 pound though, you can kiss gas millage good buy. Anyways heres the link to MTX's website and if you look around a little more there is a couple links to independant magazines and what not that have wrote about it. https://www.mtx.com/caraudio/news/newsTemplate.cfm?ID=1264

At CES they were saying it was going to be going for around $5-6k.  I have some videos of the thing moving I should upload and show you guys.  I commend MTX for their effort.  I think they were trying for the longest excursion sub.  Unfortunately we put the bar so high that even a big company like MTX can't touch it.  posted_image

You go boy! LOL Actually, I saw it too, and it LOOKS good, but WHAT THE HELL IS SQL? Nothing... a gimmick. It appears to me as though MTX is falling/has fallen into the Boss/Audiobahn reign. Making up stuff to sell a product is LAME-O!!! OOOOOH - 10,000 watts.   PHTPHPTPTHPHT Loud SUX, and for 6 grand, that thing BETTER sound at least listenable, although I doubt highly that it will be. I'd rather spend 3500 on a Parthenon motor and design my own diaphragm. I bet the diaphragm on that thing is SO heavy, I bet you can't run it above 40Hz. (Not that that is necessarily bad, mind you.) It's group delay probably looks like HELL, too.   I wanted to see the T/S parameters for it. I bet you can't build a proper box for it... probably just needs a wall in your mom's Caravan... I guess I learned a long time ago there is more to life than bass...

I must be tired, cause I can't think of ANYTHING good to say right now.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I heard this thing is going to have like 5" or linerar excurion, or something like that.

At 320lbs, you will need a friggen forklift to get it into your car, and a MAMMOTH enclosure to hold it. I gurantee someone will do all this and then be beat by some guy with less expensive subs.

What in the living hell is the point of that??????????

companies make these things all the time. Pheniox Gold has been making rediculous amps for years now, making them just to prove they can do it, and then setting the price so obscenly high that no one will buy them. While this sub seems more acheiveable than that pheniox amp that listed at 196,000 dollars it is still pretty rediculous. And the excursion is 2.5 inches one direction.

The only beef I have with the adire parthagon is I have never seen it with a fully assembled usable cone. Mabye Stephan can help me out on this one. Like is there even a real driver made yet using this motor structure yet or is it still in early testing phases or what?

Hopefully I'll be happy with my 4 Sony 12" subs that I just got for half price.  I got 2 400-watt amps and the subs for $300 plus tax.  It's below average gear I'm sure, but since I don't have a lot of money, I'm just hoping it will sound decent so it wasn't a waste of money.  I'll post pics when I get it all installed.

this woofer may be the first of its kind to produce enough spl to actually shatter the car's windows.     Did anybody see the movie "singles" about the grundge lifestyle in seattle back in the early 90's?    There was this classic scene where Matt Dillon tries to impress his girlfriend with a new stereo for her car.    He brings her out, hits start on the radio's remote control, and all the windows blow out.    I laughed so hard.

You must have missed the thread showing the Parthenon working.  Here's the link to the video: https://www.woofervids.com/displayimage.php?album=7&pos=0  I didn't attatch the cone we have for it though.  But the cone functions perfectly.  This thing has so much linear excursion (7 inches peak to peak) that it doesn't need an enclosure.  It is the worlds first true dipole driver as it can produce 121 dB (reference levels) of output at 20 Hz running free air like that.  The year we showed the Parthenon, Resonant Engineering built one up using our motor and suspension with an air bearing on the edge of their cone.  It looked like a big fish tank, but it worked.  They also showed a 6" version that had some huge throw.  Those were their XMX drivers.  That is one way to do the surround to add an enclosure.  We are also experimenting with some other ideas as well.  We are a technology company and will always have solutions for the crazy problems we create. posted_image
