I have this mercedes benz 280 year 1973 and the audio wiring is kind of all messed up. I have tested the ground and they live wire and they work. The thing is speaker wiring is not the normal one.
I have check the spec from this site which are in contrast with the link here.
https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1973-83&make=Mercedes&model=240/280%20Series&ID=18336&type=Stereo
There is a brown wire which is the ground
There is a black wire which is the live ( battery )
but the wiring in for the speakers ( I think ) are this color
1 gray wire with a red thing in the middle
1 gray wire with a green thing in the middle
1 white wire
1 brown wire
1 white wire
I don't even know where to start testing I know I need a meter to test continuity but at the moment got none.
Any one with any idea what those wires mean I would truly appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
where did you get your speaker wires? this vintage of vehicle may have a separate tuner/amplifier box up by the glove comp...which will have your speaker connections plugged into it....they will be your typical euro dot/dash plugs....
does it have the wheel type fader control at the bottom of the console area? what model of Becker unit did it come with?
