Hey, I had just baught the Inifinity reference 6000cs component speakers. I was thinking of taking them to a shop to get them in but I'm interested in doing itmyself. they consist of the speaker, tweeter and crossovers for each door. here are the specs, can you guys tell me what I would have to do etc? Thanks
Type: 6.5" 2-way component system
Speaker Impedance: 4 Ohms
Power Handling: 90W RMS, 270W Peak
Frequency response: 53 Hz - 21KHz
Sensitivity: 92 dB
Crossover Freq: 3.5KHz
Mount depth: Woofer: 2-1/16"
you can put the speaker in the oem location and place the tweeter right above the speaker the crossover is self explainitory, smaller terminals go to the tweeter, or you can buy kick panels that have a place for both

Make sure to not place the crossover inside the door itself. Moisture can get into the doors and ruin them. The last time I put a set of component speakers in I mounted them behind the door panel on the door.
I would also reccomend placing the tweeter as close to the woofer as possible. I had the tweeter about 6" away from the woofer in my suburban and it sounded great. If you place the tweeter up on your A pillar or on the sail panel of your door they may be too loud since they are closer to your ear.
Whats the make and model of your vehicle your putting them into? Here is a nice tutorial by Crutchfield that goes over placement and installation. https://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-WSRmmGuqyVs/learningcenter/car/component_speakers_installation_guide.html
I have a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S. I installed them today, what I did was take wires from the amp w/ 18 guage wire to the crossover, then I went to 18 gauge wire to the tweeter w/ the "-3dB" option (i've heard these tweeters don't last long) Then I used 16 guage wire for the speaker. Does that sound ok? Is there anything else I could do to improve this?
