2 - 4ohm subs connected in parallel = 2 ohms/i got this

when i am making the connection do i have to connect the speakers wire( +/+,-/- ) before the connection to the amp, or can i just run both positives, and both negatives to the amp.

i am bringing the wires right out of a hole drilled in the back of the box which i will fill with silicone.

Personally, I'd connect them at the amp so that you do not have a chance of the wires becoming seperated in some unknown location.

However, as auex said, either is fine and will give you the same results.

I would connect them inside the enclosure. Then run only one pair of speaker wires out of one side of the box. Less wires, neater install.

You can permanently install speaker wire through the interior baffle and put spade connectors on the ends. The subs would be connected with F-disconnects. The hole will be permanently sealed with caulk, and different subs and wiring can be easily exchanged in the future.

Using a terminal cup makes for a more professional appearance, too...and it's a good idea to label your sub wiring and impedance on the cup. I just use a small piece of white paper and scotch tape it into the recess - "SVC4 paralleled to 2ohm"- or whatever your case might be...

i normally try to run all lead wires from each coil/sub to the amp for 4 reasons.

1.have speaker wire runs the same length=less chance of different impedances because of cable length. i know the difference is negligible but i like to keep things as close as possible.

2.if a coil or sub goes out you can easily identify which one

3. you can change from parallel to series very easily. this really only comes in handy if your dropping your impedance down gocho low for spl burps.

4.if you are running a large amp on multiple woofers there is usually a 'spike' in the wattage on the first sub in the daisy chain. i think this may go back to number 1. each additional sub has farther for the current to run.

these arent scientific facts, just observations ive made, hope the insight helps.
