Small subs can be a very nice way to add low frequency reinforcement to a small area. But please don't expect them to boom like 10" or larger woofers, they just can't. I installed one from Tang-Band in a Toyota MR2 before and it sounded very nice indeed, and Cambridge Soundworks makes a very nice dual 6.5" sub for home theatre. I've never used the JL. ------------- Support the12volt.com

i know i wont get much. what i have is a mustang with the mach460. they have a plastic sealed enclosure already i was just going to throw some fiberglass around it for a little extra(dont really think i need to) and put about 100 watss to one on each side. i was going to put some real nice components up front to level it out. if i decide i wnat more i am going to glass a 12" sub in the trunk on either side in front of the brake light.

I think you're getting no responses because no one sees the point.
Why try a second (or third or fourth) rate solution that is bound to disappoint?
Sounds like a waste of time and money to me.

a 6.5in driver is in no way a subwoofer. It is more appropriate as a mid range or mid bass driver.

Maybe an Adire Auido extremis woofer. It might not fit depthwise in your factory enclosure though. I would seriously consider just buying a 10 or 12 inch sub because a 6.5 won't sound like much compared to either in a good box.

You can try to "improve" the factory audio and deal with the frustrations....or you can just replace it altogether. I would opt for the latter. And a sub on each side of the trunk, are you thinking that they face each other? I wouldn't do that either.
------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
