I just bought this unit about a month ago. I read the manual and still cant find out how to play mp3's. It says it can play mp3's on the front of the unit. If anyone who has this unit or has worked with it please help me out. Thankyou

That HU can only play MP3s if you add the Eclipse Commander Advance unit to it. Think an additional $400... Sorry. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Thats pretty sneaky of Eclipse to claim MP3 capability when in fact you need to buy a $400 thing to get it.
Do the new models, specifically the 5425 need this add on to play mp3s??

It's not sneaky, they tell you this right in their owner's manual and in the advertisements for the HUs. If you mean the CD5444 (I have never heard of a 5425) then yes it has MP3 decoding capability built-in. Excellent HU. HERE's the PDF of their 2004 HU catalog. ------------- Support the12volt.com

the 5425 in a 2005 model, basically replaceing the 3424 but alot more features now.
