Do you have an amp or just the speakers through the deck ?

  • Make sure that none of you RCA wires are running beside your power wires
  • check your ground wires and make sure the paint is all scrapped off that area that the ground wire is attached to
  • make sure that the gains on the amp are not maxed out. This will give you whining noises
  • make sure your ground is less than 3 feet long

I have a  kenwood kdc x815 or something I've had now for about a year or two.(detachable motorized face,  built in xover, seperate front rear and non fading sub outputs). I can't exactly remember the model. But I had a similar problem with the engine whine. I chose to use an inline ground loop isolator. Not the choice of many professionals, but it worked for me. Fairly cheap brought from any wally mart store for about 12bucks. Just plugs into the rca line output from the head unit and then the output from the isolator plugs into the amp.
