does anybody kno' the typical current input requirements for all the stereo wires (amp., power, remote, etc.).
reason being is that my deck on a '94 civic isn't working and i think it's the amp. (blue) wire cause everything else works fine except for the sound. anybody have any idea??? thought about splicing power off somewhere else; then just regulating the current to power up the amp.
It's voltage....12 volts. Current is not an issue. Try the blue/white wire instead.
Hmmmm, sounds like an entry-level Kenwood deck, perhaps? Not all decks use this wire in the harness. You may have to use the blue/white, which is the correct wire for amp turn on. I've had to use it for power antennas in the past for the above reason.

i've tried the blue/white as well. i even tied the blue and blue/white (antenna & amp turn on) together. i think the fault is the output wire from the vehicle. this is why i was thinking of drawing power from another output wire of the vehicle. just not sure of what's the best way to do this. maybe there's a wire with similar output from underneath the dash???
Yes, any wire with 12 volts with the ignition on. Use a voltmeter and test any panel connections you can find under the steering wheel area. You'll find one that reads 12DCV but goes off when the car is turned off. Read with the neg of the meter grounded to the car chassis ground somewhere. Run a wire length to the deck.
do you kno' how the remote amp on (blue/white) wire actually work? does it send a + or - trigger to the deck? what's it's actual function and why is it needed???
