I searched around a bit and came up with nothing so I'll just post a new Question... Now bear with me I am not that good at tying a question so that everyone understands, I am much better in person.

My Dad has 4 (8ohm) Rockford subs, two are 8"s and two are 12"s They are single voice coil, 100w each.

I have 2 (4ohm) DVC Cerwin Vegas 10"s VMX-10DVC 200watts each.

What we want know is if you make the ohms drop by wiring in parallel does the AMP see only the dropped ohms or does it also see the extra load it now has to push say as in if you have 100watts rms per channel on the amp and two 100 watt subs on each channel would it put 100 watts to EACH sub on each channel or just 50w per sub per chan?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but the wattage rating has absolutely nothing to do with the load on the amplifier or the power output by the amplifier.

Just 50 per sub. The amp won't output more power than it's capable of because you have more speakers attached to it.

You and your dad should do some more reading on the forum before you put any different size/models of subs together, if that is in your plans.

We arn't, I just wanted to know that if when you drop the ohms, if the amp only puts out half power to each sub on the same channel.. I told you I wasn't good at tying questions. I think you got some of what I was asking though so thanks.

The amp never puts out half power on any channel. It will make the power according to the ohm load (impedance) on that channel. Example- An amp might be rated something like: 2 X 100 watts RMS at 4 ohms; 2 X 170 watts RMS at 2 ohms; 340 watts RMS bridged at 4 ohms. In this case, if you load each channel with a 2 ohm load, that load will get 170 watts. If that load consists of two speakers, each will get 85 watts .

But I can see that you got the jist of it.
