my amp has 2X25 fuses built in. i have 1 8ga out of my distro with 4ga in. does it mean i have to have a 50 fuse in my power wire, or can it be bigger? the fuse that came in my amp istall kit isn't specified...

When you are installing fuses in power wire, you are protecting the power wire. The amp already has its own fuses to protect it. Thefore, you must fuse the wire based on the amount of current that the wire can carry. A 4 gauge wire can carry 125 A max. So you would want to fuse the wire with no more than a 125 A fuse. You can use a smaller fuse but you want to make sure that the total amount of current drawn by whatever is powered is less than the fuse you choose. In your case, you could use a 60 A fuse assuming that the amp you specified is the only thing being powered. Then again, you mentioned a distribution block....so....choose accordingly.
