I have installed aftermarket cd players in 2000 model mustangs equipped with the Mach systems. I hooked both up using the required wiring harnesses. I hooked up the amp turn-on from the cd player to the wire that turns on the factory amps in the car. Everything sounds great except when the systems power turns on it makes a loud popping and high frequency pitched sound when it comes on for about one second.  Both cars do the same thing. Could anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it? The sound is ear piercing and gets on your nerves.

A relay set up like this to isolate the remote turn ons should take care of the problem.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Thanks for the info on the relay set-up, but what is the noise and what causes it.

You need a amp turn on delay. I use the PIE EIS-PS. Just finished a new Explorer, got rid of the pop.

The ford factory turn on is 5 volts, not 12 like your new decks.  Put a 1.5k ohm resistor inline.

Thanks for the info on the pop-stopper. My next question is about the wiring harnesses. I wired one of the players up with a harness that used rca's out of the back of the hu to a plug in for the factory speaker wires. This set up only allowed two of the speakers in the car to work. The other car I used a regular harness that connected all the wires from the hu to the cars harness and it worked properly. Why didn't the other work, and does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for the Mach systems.
