what are some good 6 1/2 around 60 rms or so? are Phoenix Gold R6.5COAX 6-1/2 any decent, or would you suggest kappas? or, i'm thinking about just getting some mid-ranges in the back...not planning on getting an amp atm. if so, which ones would you suggest, i've noticed, most of them, obviously, require much higher rms.

also, was looking at some Alpine SPR-176A 6 1/2, cerwin vega's, and some jbl's...and, is it any different to hook up 2-way components, then regular 2-ways?

1) The RMS rating is the _ABILITY_ to handle higher wattage. NOT a requirement. Don't let high quoted RMS numbers scare you away from nice speakers.
2) Where are these for? The back? Are they just going to be powered by head unit power?
If you are going to be powering them just with headunit power you should look for relatively efficient speakers.
The best way to make speaker buying decisions is to walk into a store with your own CD's, stand there, and demo the heck out of speakers you're considering.

so giving 60rms (from my my amp) to a 125 recommended rms speaker isn't a big deal?

Well now that I think about it the Type X's and Focals might not like your 60w. ------------- Nik

is Phoenix Gold Octane-R 6.0 coax any decent. i don't want to buy anything mind-blowing for the back, but nice bass, since i don't plan on getting a sub. i, don't like to blast my music, just something solid. i'm torn between those, and kappa (although kappa's are $20).
also, i can either put 6x9, or 6 1/2 in the back. is it true that the "halfs" sound better then 6x9? i've heard mixed things, that 6x9 might have more bass etc, and the other way around...

My vote goes towards the Kappa. They would have more bass than the 6.5s and are better speakers.

cool, will stick to kappa. so 6x9's are better then eh...

Well, if you want some decent bass out of your main speakers then they would work the best.

Listen to some and see what you think. I personaly don't like 6x9s as they don't sound quite as tight as a round speaker to me. ------------- Nik
