I was looking to buy some speakers for my truck and want a low hard hitting bass for it any suggestions on the type of speakers.  I was thinking of 12's because of the truck is extended cab and any advice on the amp that i should get

thats the thing i am hoping to get 1995 - 1999 and chevy the system that i was planning on getting was infinity speakers and either a legacy amp or  power acoustic both 600 watt two channel amps

Legacy and Power Acoustic are not highly regarded amps. Try sticking with more well known and regarded name brands. Alpine, JL, MTX, Kenwood, Phoenix to name just a few.

what type of amp do you recommend

Yes, the speakers are fine. Check out the JL audio E-1400. 500 Watts RMS @ 14.4 volts @ 2 ohms. This should drive your subs fine.

i would get a less expensive amp like alpine for those subs. that jl amp isnt bad and is overrated but also overpriced. i say this and i like jl.
