problem with AM reception

I installed a Kenwood CD Player in a 2002 Honda Civic, and FM comes in fine, but I cannot get any AM reception. Could this have something to do with the radio grounding out to metal? What else could I check? All I hear is a fairly loud buzz on the AM band, at every station. Any help is appreciated. ------------- Will

make sure your antenna connections are clean and solid.

I can double check them, but everything looked to be in order. Is there anything else that could cause this problem?

In my experience with Kenwood, they have very poor AM/FM reception. Maybe you all need is some type of an AM booster.

Rule of thumb regarding AM/FM reception...if you get FM and no AM, typically it's an antenna problem. If you get AM and no FM, typically it's a radio problem. Before you add any type of signal booster, remove the existing antenna and check for chafing along the cable and for rust and corrosion at the mount and cable connections. Also, plug in a known good antenna and replace yours if necessary.

Is your antenna mounted inside the glass on your rear window? Are your windows tinted?

The car is a new Honda Civic, and I think it has the window antenna. Are there problems with these?
