Subject: How much for Big 3?

I've purchased a HO alternator for my 2001 Civic and will be upgrading the "Big 3" to 1/0 gauge wire. Does anyone have an idea of how much total wire I should buy? I'd like to err on the side of caution (ie: an extra couple of feet).

Thanks in advance to anyone who's able to help.

20 feet should give you plenty enough wire

Good luck

i just bought some 1/0 gauge wire for my seville. honestly, you would have to estimate based on the location of the alternator, battery, and chassis ground in your car. for my car, the battery's negative is fairly close to the ground. the alternator is also on the same side of the battery, and so i needed about 7-8 feet MAX for the positive. just see if u can get a measuring tape and get the distance for ur three wires, and then add about 3 ft i would say to those measurements. if anyone here has a civic, they might be able to give u some actual numbers...

hope this helps

Thats what I did, I have a 2004 civic and I used only 12 feet, but I bought 20 and was able to do my other car

Having extra wire never hurts, especially when you have the budget

alright, I am doing this as we speak, I have a 00 civic so we are kinda close.  I ordered 20 ft of 1/0 because it was only 2.98 a foot including shipping from hifisound or something, just got it today, they are the best deal I could find on wire, it was total 59.63 for 20 ft, here is a link https://cgi.ebay.com/dll?ViewItem&category=32810&item=5754856239&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW.  And for your question how much for the big 3?  I spent a total of 170, if you need ring terminals check this company out, they were the best deal I could find, a pack of 10 for $20 10 bucks for shipping  posted_image, https://www.electerm.com/2.html good luck.

Thanks guys, for all the help. It looks like 20 feet of 1/0 gauge will probably be a safe bet. Thanks for posting the link as well, I'll check that out.
