I am putting in a Clarion DXZ935 in my 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The stock steering wheel has volume adjustments and seek functions inside the steering wheel. The head unit i have comes with a remote that straps on to the steering wheel(yes, i know, pretty dumb.) My question is, had anyone attempted to rig up the actual remote to the stock controls by messing with the wiring inside the steering wheel, and reconnectin the stock controls to the aftermarket remote, and locating the sensor for the remote where it would function the cd player?
This may seem pointless, but i think it would be a unique feature, just for the sheer fact that the controls still work. I am pretty good with the mechanical part of it, but i was just wondering if anyone has taken this journey prior to me? I have the time and patience, so I'm ready for the task.
Also, will the airbag be a hazardous part to work around? or will removing the fuse from the panel under the dash avoid this potential slap in the face(literally!!)
Any help or advice would be awesome, Thanks, Accoustic1985

they make a part to do that with. it integrates steering wheel contols by utillizing the after market radio's remote control sensor on the faceplate. the piece comes with all the instructions to program it, just program and place the infared transmitter where ti can be read by the faceplate of the radio and it will work.
------------- If you say "I already know how", don't ask me a single question.

I have thought long and hard about riggin mine up like that. I know it could be done, just might be a little difficult. Does anyone know where to get the piece that Bmnicolosi is talking about? ------------- Nik
