Hello I'm getting ready to relace my factory speakers in a 1999 Grand Cherokee. I will be replacing my dash speakers with infinity kappa tweeters, my front door speakers with 6x9 infinity kappas, and my rear door speakers with 6" 1/2" infinity kappas as well. My question is this: Will an Alpine mrvf340 500 watt 4, 3, OR 2 channel amp with built in crossovers be a good amp for this job? Here is the rms ratings for this amp if that helps.

# 250 watts x 2 max output @ 4 ohms
# 100 watts x 4 max output at @ 4 ohms
# 65 watts RMS x 4 @ 2 ohms
# 130 watts RMS x 2

Any advice to help me select the right amp for the job is greatly appreciated.

That should be a good match, just be sure to set your gains properly, and correctly set your crossover points.

Your amp has this for power ratings. It is not a huge amp by any means but with a moderate sized subwoofer, you will have no issues. If you are trying to get loud, a bigger amp should be considered. Instead of using those 6x9" speakers for the doors, I would look at a really good set of oversize 6.5" components and make a mounting baffle for them.

  • Per channel into 4 ohms : 35W x 4
