whas goin on everyone? I have a problem...when i turn on my system, it will thump for about 5-10 min, then the over current light comes on and shuts off the bass output. now I am wondering if this pertains to the current from the battery or the way i have my subs wired, i have them wired 2ohm, (sony xplod 800W max each). does anyone know how i can fix this problem??

Sounds like the way you have your subs wired to the amp and it's getting to hot and cutting out. Try running them at 2 ohms and just hook it to one channel or bridge one sub at 4ohms.

Its a 1/2 channel stero amp, and the model number is XM-2150GSX...but I think I have solved the problem. I put the subs which are on a 2ohm wiring setup, on one channel...which in the other case before I had it on both channels. its hitting hard and fine now, but if there is anything else I can do, I will gladly accept input.

Assuming the subs are 4-ohms each, wire one to each channel of the amp. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Alright cool. I'll try this. Will this allow me to get lower dBs than I have now with it wired as 2ohm?

Maybe I should have asked if this is better than wiring it to one channel as 2ohm. Is it???

2 ohms to one side is no different then 4 ohms to both sides

The only difference is it will stress the amp less to utilize both channels. The amp will run cleaner, cooler and last longer running at 4-ohms per channel. This can be very important with Sony Xplod(ing) amplifiers. ------------- Support the12volt.com

OK your amp is not 2 ohm stable MONO only 2 ohm stable stereo.....so you have to run it either 8 ohms bridged(MONO) or each sub to seperete channels stereo....It will be the same.....so you should either buy new subs DVC 4 ohms or buy a 2 ohm stable bridged amp.....
I had the same problem when I bought my first system like 4 years ago and knew nothing know I know what to look for and have been thru plenty of stereos...
