4" speakers dont put out very good sound. I had a set of 3.5" Memphis speakers in my cavalier, they were good speakers, but just didnt put out very much sound. Would you be able to upgrade to a bigger speaker?

4" speakers can sound very good actually. MB Quart, Focal, Macrom, Morel are all line to look at. ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Sure, just don't expect sufficient midbass. ------------- Dave

Put it in a enclosure and get back to me about the midbass response. Some (not all) 4" speakers can sound absolutely amazing.

I agree with Rob's suggestions and would add Memphis M-class and JBL GTO to his list. ------------- Support the12volt.com

I know I might be out of my league with who is posting in this thread so far but here goes. What about using 1/4" plywood to raise the speaker up just a little that way maybe a 5 1/4 would fit. I did this in my last car to fit 6.5's into a 5x7 opening. I don't know the particulars about the space behind your door panel or how far your future speakers tweeter will protrude out so this may or may not work. Just a suggestion though.
