I have a 1992 honda accord EX i'm running a total of 3000 watts: 2400 on subs and 600 on highs. i can't turn the volume up anymore or it will shut off or drain my battery. i'm guessing i need a high output alternator. Does anyone think a 135 amp alternator will do the job?

I think you should look more for a 200 amp. alternator. And depending on your amplifiers efficiency, you may want to think about adding another battery. That is alot of current draw.

To give you an idea, assuming your amps are 100% efficient, which is doubtful, I really don't know any that are, and based on 3000 watts, that presents you with a 240 amp. current draw, so a HO alternator would be a good start, but more than likely, you will need a multiple battery setup to get maximum output from your amplifiers.

CAPS WILL NOT FIX OR HELP ANYTHING!!!! (although they WILL NOT cause more problems, as some people think...) Should I say it again, or did you get it? Chad is right. You need a higher output alternator, at least a 200 amp unit.

Try searching on this forum, there are many options to suit your needs.

A few off the top of my head, Alterstart, Mean Green, and your local alternator/mechanic shop. Also, look to the left at the bottom in the advertisements.

are the amount of watts you are running. is that the rms or the total amount of watts. Either way though atleast an 200 amp alt.
