96 intrepid basic amfm cassette standard
6 speakers, 2 in dash, 2 in doors, 2 in rear deck
installed Jensen cm9521 200 watt

I have been all over the forum and seen a lot of posts that were close but not a "final" fix.

symptom: poor sound quality no base response, no sound at all from door speakers

speaker continuity reads 5000 ohms -- is this for real?
is there an amp in this basic sound system?
I have tried the unit power antenna wire to the blue/white wire -- nothing
any help would be appreciated?
thanks
Jack

When you pulled the factory unit, did you have a wire with a female spade connected to the back of the radio?  If so, this is the amp ground.  Connect it directly to ground, and let us know if that solves it.

Where did you take that ohm reading from? Right behind the HU? Or at the speakers themselves?

I'm thinking that your reading the impedance of the factory amp. Not sure, just a thought.
