I've been reading about bandpass enclosures, and it seems that their one major flaw is that they have a very audible port mode. Anyway, I was thinking, could a Passive radiator be used instead of ports in the bandpass enclosure? I mean, this would get rid of any unwanted port noise, AND if the PR was properly sized with enough Xmax, there wouldn't be any problem with suspension noise.

How does this sound? Is it phesible?

Thank you for the responseposted_image .

I was just wondering. Sinse on home stereo speakers a Passive radiator is sometimes used in place of a port. I was wondering if the same thing could be done with a bandpass enclosure?

The PR is not used in place of a port...it's an entirely different setup with an entirely different frequency response.  You'll notice those PR speaker systems come in some pretty big enclosures compared to vented systems.  You have any speaker design software that you can play around with so you can model out these ideas you have?

Hmm, I have WinISD, but I haven't played with that in awhile.

Hmm, I understand that PRs are different the Ports in a few ways, but arn't PR systems still classified as vented enclosures?
