Replacing Midranges from Comp Set?

I finished reinstalling my system today (will post some pics in the AM, it looks neato, I think) and in the process of adjusting the balance and what not (I have a six-channel bridged on the first 4 channels running to the fronts, so my RCA's and wiring is a little weird) I discovered why I thought my componets, a set of JL Audio VR series 5-1/4" CSi's, had been sounding a bit dismal as of late:

The right midrange no longer works. I spent a good hour or so verifying that it was the speaker itself, and not the wiring or something lose.

So, my question is would I be able to replace the midranges in the comp set with something from... I dunno Parts Express? The tweets work fine and it seems like a cheap way to solve the problem. I realize that to the audiophiles around here such a solution would be far from ideal but I seriously have absolutely no money whatsoever with which to throw down on something on the level of the VR's.
What would I look for in a replacement midrange? What specs would I look at to see if the crossover would work with it? Or am I crazy?
Hypothetically speaking, if I had to get a new comp set, what would you guys recommend in the <$200 range?

you should just be able to change out the mid-driver. as long as the new speaker will handle the power you shouldnt have any problems, as long as you are sure that the speaker didnt blow because of bad install.

Right well what do I look for a different mid-bass?

Like, b/c I'm installing them into a door shouldn't it be "infinite baffle" or whatever?(What does that mean anyway?) Not only that, but what impedence would the crossover want to see or would it particularly matter?

Where would I shop for a midbass? Any recommendations>?

Could I just swap out my mid-drivers with something like this?

Crossovers are built for specific drivers. Anything you buy may not sound good. It could end being a costly experiment.

My advice: either buy an exact replacement driver from JL or change to a completely new component set.
