I have 2 speakers picked out that I like the look of and like the specs...so heres the deal....Im gonna have at MOST 1cu ft to work with on a sealed box...and I need to chose b/t the rockford fosgate power 10" T1 10-D2 or the Infinity kappa perfect 10DVQ.....anyone had experience with either and/or both?? and also..put into consideration that I will probably buy the matchin amp with either that I chose...so It would make a diff...if one amp brand is better than the other...thanks!

Yes, the response of the two subs will be different. Any reasons as to why you have limited yourself to these two speakers? A stellar performer in a small sealed box is the Eclipse aluminum, maybe have a quick gander at it as well. www.eclipse-web.com ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

I'm also wondering how you narrowed it down to those two drivers. If you want to do some more sophisticated comparison, model the estimated response in a box size you plan on using for the two drivers and compare. WinISD is a good starter application. Also, I see absolutely 0 need to match subwoofers brand and amplifier brand. Pick your subwoofer based on your sound goals and space considerations. Then pick the amplifier based on your chosen driver and your pocket book. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

With one cubic foot of volume for ONE subwoofer, the door is wide open for choices. The posts above will help lead you in the right direction. Also, any chance you get to actually LISTEN to the differing sounds of the subs available will be a valuable experience and probably an eye-opener for you, as sooner or later you'll realize that LOOKS and SPECS don't mean a whole heckuvalot.

Thanks guys for the responses....really Im not sure why I have limited it to those 2 types....I have only heard these two...and liked the way they looked...and sounded...I have never heard the eclipse....I will check those out...really Im not too familiar with speakers and their specs...I usually just kinda pick one....but I can/have built pretty much any kind of enclosure....go figure!?....Ive gathered that so far I should get a 2ohm speaker dual voice coil....and thats about it...I just want something that is clear and thumps good...(who doesnt)....but I dont care about having the loudest bass in the world...just a nice thump that you can feel in the seat.....THANKS again!!

Ive gathered that so far I should get a 2ohm speaker dual voice coil ....or why not a single voice coil 4 ohm? Either using a DVC 2ohm or a SVC 4 ohm will net you a 4 ohm load, which is a good load to bridge onto a 2-channel amp. If you've listened to both of these, you probably should do a re-evaluation of them so that you can determine which you like better. Your choices are wide open from what you have said. Pick the sub, have a box made for it, and buy an amp that will power it appropriately. If you're dealing with a shop that you become familiar with, you might consider hiring them for the installation work as well.

I just want to stress that you really should pick the subwoofer based on your goals and the space you have to work with.
To do this you need to define your goals. Let me ask some questions.
Do you want something that gets very loud?
How much power are you willing to throw at this sub?
Have you decided whether you want a ported box or a sealed box?
Do you want punchy bass or better low end extension?
What is the rest of your system?
What kind of music do you listen to?
Do you value sound quality or SPL more?
Once you've done this I would really-really-really suggest becoming an informed consumer and comparing the drivers in enclosure softare.
