Subject: hooking up an old Orion Amp

I just found an old Orion Amp. I am not sure if its the 2150GX version or not but the wires are puzzling. On one end there are five knobs; two red, two black and a light blue. Also, there are four wires sticking out, two black and two red. On the other end, there is the usual left and right inputs and another plug. If anybody has any experience with this amp or knows a little about it. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mark.

That doesn't sound like a 2150gx. What color is the amp? The 5 knob part is weird to me.

The amp is black with red writing on the top. Its about a 1'2" long. It says Orion then a long line that runs across the top with a faded watts writing.

Sorry, I can't really say. That sounds a little bit like the 2150gx. Can anyone else help? The "5 knob" part doesn't sound like the 2150gx. Mine had the inputs, gain control, and power and ground wires on one end and the speaker plug on the other end. Speaker wires were orange and ORANGE / black for one channel and yellow and yellow/black for the other. Remote wire was blue.

I think I figured it out. I took the bottom cover off and discovers the wire colors. Like you said there are two channels or something. orange...then ORANGE / black.....then yellow then yellow/black.  But I am still puzzled about the four seperate power wires? two black and two red. If I hook it up would I need to tie them together? ie....red and red together and black and black together? Thanks for all your help Supradude.

I figured it out but still one question...what are the four wires sticking out? Are they supposed to be connected together to give power or something? like red red for positve and black black for negative? Thanks Supradude.

I found my old manual (and I do mean OLD) today that came with my 2150gx. That might be a 4 channel amp you have there. The manual has 2 amps listed in it. One is the 4100gx and one is the 425hcca (which was red). The 4100gx had 2 red and 2 black wires on it for power and ground. Blue for remote. Speaker wires were like above with GREEN/ black green and WHITE/ black white for the other 2 channels. Look inside and see if you see these wires with the other ones you said you seen. The plug for the speakers should be on the end with the 2 red and 2 black wires. The other end has 2 gain knobs and 2 DIN input and 2 RCA inputs. Does this help?

Perfect. I tried it out today and wow....its gots some. I was wondering I have only one 10" alpine type r sub running to it. How would I get the best bass out of it? The deep kind of good bass. Also, I just hooked it up to one channel? The red and black that are right next to each other and next to the remote turn on wire. Is that the best setup?
