I will never be satisfied. I have been happy with the L7's but want to try something new(better) without breaking the bank. I have two sub amps realisticly rated at 800rms a piece. I hate the enclosure I have now anyway, so the shape doesn't matter. I was thinking about the MTX 9500 but would love some more suggestions based on experience. I'm more about hearing a kick drum that pounds very hard but precisely, but like to turn up the old school bass tracks sometimes as well. Also, do I really need two subs?

Try the Adire Brahma, RE XXX or Ascendant Audio Avalanche. All are great SQL woofers that should sound very good, and also get very loud.

All a second sub does is add more volume. It's reproducing the same range of sound, just gets it louder then a single will. So if by hard you mean it reproduces low tones better, then no, if by it you mean loud, then you probably want two.

I'd go for a single 12" brahma, with two 2-ohm coils, and then wire up each coil to a seperate amp. That'll give you almost to full output on the sub if you put it in a box with about a cubic foot of airspace.

That's what I'd do. sub is like $350 for one. You really only need one.

Also look into the Image Dynamics ID MAX, it competes with the Brahma essentially.

A Brahma would be great for you, unfortunatly Adire is going through some changes and it might be hard to get ahold of one. You might have to wait a little while. You just might have to be patient....unlike some people on this board posted_image

Where do you find these Brahma's that everyone keeps talking about? I have 3 Alpine Type R's and i am looking to upgrade as well. i just cant figure out what to get. 2 Kicker L7 15" , JL 12W7 , Kicker Solo X , there are to many choices. customsound79 i dont mean to butt in on your thread but i would't mind a couple of recomendations as well.

I did alot of research about all of the suggestions everyone has given and after reading forum after forum I've decided that everyone's subs are better than everyone else's. I really do appreciate the advice given, but like I said, I've been happy with the L7's so far and have decided to build a real enclosure for the L7's to pick up the missing frequencies. The Brahmas, RE's and Image Dynamics all have very impressive specs and menacing looks( even though they all look very similar) but with a 93 Aerostar adorning 200k miles, trying to achieve decence low frequency SQ is a loosing battle anyway. I learned alot about these exotics and will buy some on my next upgrade after the necessary miles of Dynamat. amb4life-it's all yours
