I believe my amp is on its way out b/c every now and then I get "noise" though my audio system.  The whine reaches a higher frequency as my RPMs rev higher.  Therefore I realize it is alternator whine.  The amp is an old boss amp (not sure about model number) bridged to one 4ohm 12".  I want to test the amp first in troubleshooting the problem.  I have read about "Shorted out RCAs".  How can I create these RCAs to test my amp?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Boss amps are notoriously noisy... they put nothing in the way of filtering in their products....you unfortunately may find that it's just "the nature of the beast".... of course that's probably why they retail for $89.00
