I have a Clarion DPX1000.2 that will shut down on me for about 10 seconds when I turn the volume up to about 3/4 and the gain is at about 1/3 on the amp.
Background:89 Nissan Pathfinder
Signal comes from a Sony cd head unit low pass output to an Audiocontrol Epicenter. From there it passes into the Dpx1000.2. The crossover (24db/oct) is set at 90Hrz. The amp operation is set to mono with the subsonic filter set to on. I have a 4 Guage power=ground. All connections are good and I have used Stinger and Audiobahn connects so quality should not be an issue. The amp is also cold to the touch so heat shouldnt be an issue.
The amp is powering (2) 8" Rockford HE 4 ohm subs in .30 cu/ft sealed enclosures.
I suspect the signal is clipping. Maybe someone knows what is happening and the remedy. Maybe I have high expections, it is easy to drive those subs to there limit. In the spring I am puttin in 12s.
Check to make sure you have a good ground. Also you could have a bad sub.Try to disconnect one and turn it on and see what happens. Try this for both subs and then let us know the results.
The most probable cause of your problem is the way your subs are wired. If you have them wired in parallel you are presenting the amp with a 2 Ohm load... That will shut 'er down real quick. If thats not the problem, check your ground. Could also be several other things, but try those first and tell us what happens
