J1 should be the harnes that you need to tap into.  I have an '02 stang that had the Mach 460 as well, but I found it was alot easier just replacing the entire system.  Keep in mind that there are 3 amps in the 460 system... 1 in front and 2 in the trunk.  The 2 in the trunk are pre-amp'd through the 1 in the front.  Also keep in mind which amp runs which speakers...  The front amp runs the Front and Rear 2" tweeters (front tweeters are located towards the top of the doors near the mirrors, rear tweeters are under the grills behind the rear seat).  The Left rear amp runs the 2 6x8's in the doors.  The Right rear amp runs the 2 6x8's under the grills behind the rear seat (same grills as the rear tweeters).  I may have the rear left and right amps reversed, but you get the general idea.  You can also look here for some good info/specs on the Mach 460 system https://www.flemworld.com/95/mach.html

Holy crap you are an absolute life-saver!!   I've already spent many hours with this customer's car (99 mustang convertible with the 460 system) trying to figure this damn thing out but it never occurred to me that there may be more than one factory amp.  That actually will make it easier for me, as I am adding an amp for two subs and can just tap into the high level inputs from back there in the trunk.   Thanks again man.

I just got a 2002 Mustang and I have no idea what the stereo is in it.  It's a combo CD player/cassette deck and seems to be a double DIN.  The sound quality seems alright for a stock, but I am not sure if it has a mach  460 system or not.  How do I remove the radio?  I looked for holes on sides, but cannot find any.  I have a kenwood deck thats a lot nicer then the stock head unit.  What wire harness and install kit do I need (Part # if you have that too)?  I went to a local car stereo shop and they told me to bring in the factory wire harness in so they can match the wire harness I should use, but I still cannot get the stock head unit out.  Is the wires going to be the same, or will I have to move some wires around? 

I had a 2002 Grand AM GT and needed to move all the wires around because they were in the wrong spot on the wire harness. 

Some guy at a Circuit City told me I don't need a mounting kit, but it appears to me I do since it looks like its a double DIN size.  Any information on this would be much appreciated.  I don't have the car manual because I bought it used and it wasn't included.
