does anyone see a problem with running the power cable underneath the vehicle..

Use some type of covering or even some emt conduit. And stay off the gravel roads for sure.

When power wire gets to be of the larger size, i.e. 2, 0/1 gauge, then some people find that it is easier to run the cable underneath the car. It is not a good idea to run the wire unprotected however because road debris and/or chassis flex can cause damage to the wire. I have seen it run in a armored flexible conduit that is available at any electrical supply store, even Home Depot or Lowes.

The neat thing about this stuff is that there are already passthrough connectors available so running from inside to outside is quite simple. Check out these pictures showing what I am talking about in this awesome install here
