Hello I'm hoping you can help me...I'm a little ignorant so bare with me. I have a crossfire 400wt amp to use and my subs are already taken care of but I'm in the process of shopping for mids I'm looking for 6.5" mid with a coaxial tweeter but my question is, is a 400wt amp too much for a mid range? If its not what speakers could handle it without blowing in a week?

Just a comment.
You don't automatically blow speakers if you attach them to high wattage amplifiers.
You could run a 10w speaker with a 1000w amplifier and never ever blow it.
The speaker is only pushed more than 10w from the amplifier if you tell the amplifier to push more than 10w.
If you set the gain on your amplifier with care and operate your volume knob with 1/2 a brain you shouldn't blow any speakers ever; no matter how much or how little power you have.
As for coaxial speakers. . . how much money do you want to spend and what are your goals?

thats what I was thinking but I wanted to be sure, just taking percautions ya know, any suggestions on quality coaxil mids? Not too extremely high priced

I agree with the above. Your amplifier is stereo, rated at 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms. Go out shopping with your favorite CD in your pocket. Listen to all available coaxial loudspeakers that will fit your vehicle and are rated to handle 100 watts RMS or more. Buy the ones you like the sound of the most. ------------- Support the12volt.com

good deal apreciate the feedback, I have 2 kicks I fiberglassed that they'll be going in, I had a set of older crossfire bmf 6.5" but one went to hell and I see they don't make the bmf 6.5" anymore but they're SX series looks and sounds identical so I may go with them I really liked the bmfs.

as far as "goals" I'm just looking for quality LOUD sound I got the bass but I want decent mid & high as well. I don't compete its just personal preference.

look into te alpine typr r component sets. they are great and take loads of power. I know you said co-ax. But these are really nice speakers for less then $200

If you want to spend a little more cash you might want to look into component speakers that can be mounted in a coax configuration. They'll usually handle more power (i.e. get a bit louder).
Image Dynamics, Memphis, and MB Quart all make components like that. I'm sure there are others.
