Of the four you listed the only one I would not consider is JVC.  JVC has relatively poor build quality and much harsher sound quality than the others.  My preference would be Blau first, then Clarion, then Panasonic.  But that's just me.  Go shopping and listen to them.  Get a shop to let you play one of your CDs on each one through the SAME set of speakers and then decide for yourself.

We deal Kenwood, pretty good in SQ department, not that of say Eclipse, or Nakamichi, and are upi to date with all the fancy features that are on the market today.

For me, other than Eclipse and Alpine, I'd pick Clarion, then Blau.

It all depends in what you are looking for.

Personally, I would choose Kenwood, I find their SQ is superior to Pioneer, though some may beg to differ. I personally have a Kenwood in my truck......for now, as I am waiting to get in from offshore to install my new deck, a Nakamichi CD500.

I had a blaupunkt and it was a great sounding HU, especially for the price.

Top of the line pioneer sounds good, ,the ones under $300 are just junk.  IMO Kenwood just copies alpine.

I gotta disagree with alpine guy here. I would like to know why you think the head units under 300 sound any different then the ones over 300. If we are talking about the internal amps, then you should probally know that all the decks from the 2600-8600 all have the exact same internal amp. The MP80 is an exception to the rule and I am unsure of the 9600. Personally I think that the pioneer head units sound better then the kenwood and alpine head units, and I have used all 3 in my own personal vehicle, but thats just my own personal opinion.
