i did the formula you guys posted up to properly set the gain, i used what the amp is rated at on the box,1050 watts...its a rockford fosgate 1000a2 amp. but ive heard it puts out lik 1200RMS bridged, so im not sure, but i based the formula on 1200.
i came up with around 34.6V ....is that right? or did i do something wrong? i just want to tripple check with you guys.
thanks nick

Yet ANOTHER dead horse...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

That amp is rated as being capable of 1000 watts when bridged into a 4-ohm load (the minimum load it will support.)  That corresponds to 63.25 volts output.  But please read the link given to you above before you begin playing with your amp.
