bridging head units

crazy question, and i'm pretty sure its not possible, but i'm just lookin for confirmation on my suspicions.


Is it possible to bridge the outputs of a 4ch head unit into 2ch?

Not a good idea, you will probably need a new head unit shortly if you do so.

mmk, that solves that, interesting new side project now though, installing 5-1/4" speakers in doors, and moving my 4X6s to the center console down around foot level angled upwards, all powered off the head. Rear 6x9s will be powered by a 2ch amp, and the subs will be powered by my *resurrected* 4ch amp, bridged into 2ch

why do feel the need to relocate those 4x6s dwon there, or any where for that matter? Sounds like over kill to me.

If  I were you I would put the power to the front speakers, that way they are louder and you may have some more control of them if the amp has x-overs on it. The front speakers are usually most important as they set the stage for your ears.

Why aren't you using the 4 channel for the interior speakers and the 2channel for the subs...list  what you have, brands and specs if possible.

I thought about this too, but it makes sense that FIRES may occur.  I ended up just buying an amp.  It's not that expensive and way worth it. DO IT. If you go cheap, you'll spend more in the end, do it right the first time!!!
