1. Are all LOC's created equal? I've found one at canadian tire made by american international model LC-300. It onlyoutputs 1 volt though, is this going to be enough to drive an amp? it says it does but i'm not so sure!

2. When installing an LOC what is the best way to set the gain?

3. Installation instructions say to run speaker wire to the trunk, then mount them by the amp. But is there anything wrong with mounting them under the dash? I've already run a set of RCA's back to the trunk from when I had my aftermarket deck. It died and I dont want to buy a new one since I lost all my chimes and the harness to keep the chimes is not cheap!

4. What will sound better, a CHEAP aftermarket deck like a Koss or Legacy, Pyle, etc or the factory cd player with a LOC? it's a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero.

what amp and subs are you running? if using an LOC you should put it behind the deck. does your amp have high level imput? if so, you could have saved some money by not needing the LOC or the RCAs.

It's a Power Acoustic LT720, unfortunately it does not have high level inputs :( In my Camaro I have a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp with the high level inputs, but I dont really want to switch the amps since its a higher end system in that car.

And I dont want to have to run all new speaker wire.

No Sub, I am using the LT720 to power Phoenix Gold 5.25" door speakers and Boston Acoustic 6x9's in the rear. It's a 2004 Alero that I drive about 130 miles a day for work so I do not want a sub in it. The main reason for doing it is that the phoenix gold speakers are getting distorted really easily with the factory deck, the amp has a built in crossover that I want to take advantage of before I ruin the speakers.

at the moment everything is wired up for an aftermarket deck, but my kenwood crapped out on me so I want to just go with the factory deck.
