I just installed a Sony CD player into a 2001 Dodge Ram. THe problem is the cd won't play.

The radio plays fine. The cd even reads and the disp has a counter and shows what song is playing and haw far along it is. It seems like somethjing is going wrong in between the stereo and speakers, but like I said, the radio plays just fine as well as every other function. Does anyone here know what might me going wrong?

do  you have an amp running all the speakers?

in my buddies car he had the exact same problem and it was because he used a remote turn on wire from the power antenna and his deck put the antenna down during cd play

Try connecting the blue/white stripe wire in place of the blue wire coming off the back of the Sony head unit. The blue wire is the antenna remote lead; the blue/white stripe wire is the amplifier turn on lead.

As another thought.....you might have a faulty head unit, if the Admins suggestion doesn't work then take the head unit back.
