This is an extension of my previous post on my smaller sealed box that the installer made. Its about .5 cu ft. net air space per sub. So about 1 cu ft. total. With the recent demise of my new Eclipse Aluminum I am thinking of changing the subs all together. I guess the Eclipses sounded ok, just not loud enough for my taste. I may have had the amp a little high for those subs, but not much when the one smoked. Yeah I know, I should have known better and kept it from clipping and so on. So what I really would like is to find a more robust sub that will work in my relatively small sealed enclosure. I do believe the Eclipses would have sounded a lot better in a larger box, but since this was a custom deal, much easier said than done. the box is within specs for the 10's. Just for anyone with suggestions, I have a Diamond Audio 1200.1 for the subs. The subs are built into the wheel well firing up. When i smoked the Eclipse, the amp wasn't even hot. So I guess I'm looking for more of an SQL sound. Some sub that will be ok in the smaller sealed enclosure and handle the power I give it. I want it to sound good, but still hit the lows. I saw the new IDMAX's on a website, but no specs were posted. I have also thought about the RF T1's as i did listen to them before I got my Eclipses and they are rated to handle more power than the Eclipses. I don't think the Eclipses were a bad choice. I think in a different setup they could sound great, just not mine I guess. Please help, I can't stand not having bass.

Brahma. A pair of those will take a beating. The IDMAX would also be nice.

Ok, I looked at the Brahma but its rated for some heavy duty power that I don't have. I had thought about that as well, but didn't know if it was a good fit for the application. Would I have enough power to make um perform to their respactable level?

You WANT subs rated for more power than you have. To be clear: Power handling is a MAX number, NOT a requirement. 1200w to 2 Brahmas would be awesome. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

The 2 subs on the top of my head for top of the line performance in a small enclosure would be the Image Dynamics IDMAX, and Adire Brahma. Both ask for about 1000 wrms each tho. I have seen/heard both of those subs bumping off about 300 wrms but they were in large ported box's to specs, , in such small enclosures you will need more power to get the bump you want. Take a look at a Polk MM104. It is made for small sealed enclosures of 0.66 Cu ft. You may also want to try the MM 2104 which is what I have in my system. Both subs are available in single or dual voice coils. The MM104 was more speaker than what I needed in my system so I chose the MM2104 and it really hits hard!!!! Harder than the Sony 12" that I had before.

The polks are wrong for you. If you killed an Eclipse Alum you need something like the Brahma or Idmax that will withstand your beating.

I actually just got off the phone with an Adire rep and he was telling me, which I'm sure most of you know, that they will be coming out with several new lines in the next 3-4 weeks is what he said. The Brahma is spec'd for smaller spaces like I have. the IDMAX, a very good sub as well is spec'd for a larger sealed enclosure. Closer to 1cu ft. per sub for the 10". That's almost twice the space I have. So it is a decision I will have to make, wait for the new Adire lineup, get the box re-made to accomodate 1 cu ft. per sub, or just get the Brahma Mark II and break the bank right off the bat. Tough decision I think. I have had experience with Polk in the past, and although I'm sure they've changed, I don't think I'll try that as an option. I want something that is going to last and impress as well. Mathmatically the Brahma is a better fit. As far as sound and quality, I have no idea as no one I know has these subs, but I have heard and read nothing but good things. Price is somewhat of an issue, but not as much as the space and sound. I might have to put my blown Eclipse in for shows until I figure it out. At least my inside speakers still work:)

Well, if you are looking for a good sub for a small enclosure, why not look at the Infinity Kappa perfect 10.1's. They are best in a .6cft enclosure and have a efficiency rating of 94db. Adire subs with XBL^2 technology have great sound quality. Whatever changes they make to the Brahma line, I have no doubts the Brahma will continue to be on a very short list of quality subwoofers. I would wait for the new line. ------------- New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

I would stay away from the t1 sub it is built for large ported enclosure, another line i would consider is the directed audio new sx series, I just got some of thes in last week and they slam, Im not kidding they hit harder than my eclips subs, and are ideal for small enclosured. you can go to directed.com and check thes bad boys out. I sell these boys for 199.00 very nice for this sub, but this is prices here in alaska cost of living is very high here you might get them for cheaper in a local shop.

We crammed 8-15's IDQ's in a 98 Geo metro several years back. No need to mention that the idq's were the only 15" sub that would work with such a small volume.

Yes, the IDQ's are rated for .25, but the IDMAX's require a bit more. .75-1.0 cu ft. for them which is the way I would go if I were to use Image Dynamics. Ebay has brand new IDMAX's for $259 a piece, not too shabby. I would really like to see this new Adire lineup first though.

Yes, the IDQ is a great small box sub, but not an SPL sub. That much power will destroy one.
I love mine, but I could give a rip about high spl. :-)

I dropped a IDmax ten in an enclosure below rec. for the woofer and it still sounded excellent. I don't like the sound of the w7 or brahma's personally. I prefer the higher octave punch the Idmax has. Low end is still very good as well, but I have heard some of my friends say they think it lacks solidity.
