Can anyone tell me if A Pioneer DEH-P4700 alone has more power than a factory Infinity w/ factory amp?

Probably not, but it's a good idea to bypass the amp to make future upgrades simpler.

Thanks for the info. Are there any adapters/ plugs available to bypass the amp? I'm looking for the" EASY" button.

Check your local sound shop.  They don't always stock them, but sometimes are available for order.

When I hooked up a Pioneer in my friends car (not sure which model, but similar to the 4700) it sounded much better and got much louder then the premium system in the car.

Cool, just what I wanted to know. Even so, adding to the system would appear to be easier. (as stated by geepherder)

Thanks a million!
