I need some help guys. I just replaced the ribbon cable on the KDC-7009. While the head unit was out, the face was manually turned using my thumb on the big gear on the far right. Now, the faceplate won't sync. If I turn the faceplate to the front manually and turn on the radio, I can get everything to work. When I turn it off, the faceplate flips over like it should. When I power it back up, it won't open. How can I get the faceplate to sync with the motors and get this thing working righ? Isiah

i've replaced hundreds of those ribbon cables and i've never run into that problem before... meter for voltage at the SRM motor to see if you are getting B+ for the unopening cycle (motor is bidirectional)...... or disconnect the motor, connect and cycle it with a AAA battery pack at 3 volts to see it it runs in both directions... i dont remember there being timing holes on the cam rack of those units like some other units have.....

I followed your directions. Closing was easy. Opening took effort and it only opened about 10% of the way. Seems like I need a new motor. Any instructions on replacing one? How much for the part?

pull the motor out of circuit and try the same thing... this will tell you if the SRM assy mechanism is binding or not... if the motor moves freely now out of circuit in both directions then the problem is not the motor (look for a mechanical problem, mech binding etc) if the motor still exhibits the same issues then replace it (you already have it out) ------------- Kevin Gerry

I tried that and the motor itself is binding. I'll have to see if I can find another one. Thanks

Ok if you're stuck locally let me know, we may stock it, or can certainly order it.....cheaper to find it locally tho and avoid shipping charges.....

Do you know what the part # is? I went on part-solver and they had several motors. I don't know of anybody in the metro atlanta area that would have it. What's your price? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Kevin. The new motor worked out great. Now I just have to find some of the keys just in case I need to remove this thing after install.
